Intruder Alarms

1. Bells Only
These are the most basic systems which rely on an outside sounders scaring off an intruder or it warning one of your neighbours there is a problem. This is by far the most common and cost effective type of system.

2. Self Monitored
Basically, this is a bells only system with a piece of equipment called a speech dialler fitted to it. The speech dialler is connected to your telephone line and contacts up to 4 different people should your alarm activate. When it calls you can activate a microphone within your premises to check if the activation is genuine. If it is you can then contact the police yourself. The beauty of this system is that you can fit it to any alarm, no matter how old and not have the burden of expensive monitoring contracts or updating your equipment. This is a piece of equipment that most alarm companies will not tell you about, as they would much rather sell you a new system and a high annual contract. If your insurance will accept this, it is superb and highly recommended.

3. Digital Communicator
This is basically the same as a dial up connection on your computor. When the alarm activates it connects via your phone to a monitoring station who pass the call to the police or keyholder depending on the situatuion. This type of monitoring can be interfered with if the line is blocked or cut.

4. Redcare
This is the broadband version of alarm monitoring. Your alarm is permanently connected to the monitoring station who are notified instantly should there be a problem, including your lines being cut.

5. GSM/Dual Com
Both work on a principle of having a back up to a basic redcare connection, either via radio link or mobile connection.

Access Control, Door Entry & CCTV

Access Control
Access control systems are devices mainly used for security access into buildings.

They used to work with just a simple keypad fitted to the outside of a door used to gain entry at the push of a security access code.

Nowadays you have swipe cards, tag readers and biometric readers which are fingerprint, facial and eye retina readers in order to open a door. These methods of access are also logged onto a computer hard drive system locked away in a control room which is used to monitor employees leaving and accessing the building at different times.

Entry Systems
Audio and Video entry systems are intercom systems normally used in flats and large residential properties.

Audio is where you can have a two way conversation with the caller and Video is all of that and plus you can see them in black/white or colour you choose on a built in monitor.

CCTV
CCTV is now one of the most common forms of security on the market. This is because the cost of the equipment is continually falling. However as always, you do get what you pay for, and systems move on so quickly that it is normally best to discus all your needs with us directly.
